Ji Hua Laboratory (JHL) was established in December 2017 as one of the first batch of Guangdong provincial laboratories. Aiming to create a leading innovation platform in advanced manufacturing science and technology, JHL has focused on the research and development of core technologies and systems, as well as major equipment in the fields of new displays, semiconductors, high-end CNC machine tools, and the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries in Foshan.
Located in the heart of Sanlongwan Sci-Tech City in Foshan, Guangdong Province, the JHL Research Park covers approximately 15.87 hectares, with a construction area of 300,000 square meters. The park has been awarded the China Construction Engineering Luban Prize, the highest honor for engineering quality in the Chinese construction industry. It is equipped with advanced and fully functional public research platforms for testing, optical engineering, super-lubricity, and more. Instruments and equipment are available for public use.
Currently, JHL has 17 research and support departments, employing over 1,200 staff members, with academicians as the core and high-caliber professionals as the backbone. JHL has been approved to be a National Postdoctoral Research Station and a Guangdong Provincial Doctoral Workstation. Furthermore, it has established joint programs with more than 20 universities and research institutions to train postgraduates and high-skilled talents.
Its annual application of exclusive invention patents ranks among the top research institutes in the province. To date, JHL has incubated 24 tech-based companies and secured sales contracts exceeding RMB 500 million. JHL has cooperated with over a hundred companies to promote the quality development of the manufacturing industry. Light: Advanced Manufacturing (LAM), the international academic journal hosted by JHL, has achieved an Impact Factor (IF) of 10.6, ranking 9th globally among optics journals. It has been indexed in ESCI, Scopus, DOAJ, Google Scholar, and CNKI.
